NEW BOARD FOR OLAM SHS

The Our Lady of Mercy (OLAM) Senior High School at Tema Community One, recently inaugurated its new Board of Governors with a call on them to assist the School achieve good academic laurels.
Mrs. Elizabeth De-Souza, the Greater Accra Regional Director of Education, who inaugurated the Board, said its role was very crucial in the development of the institution, saying that the Board served as a counsel to advice the headmaster on issues that affected the school.

She encouraged the students to have God as their number one choice, saying acquiring knowledge and success should be done with God advising the staff to work with the Codes and Ethics of the Ghana Education Service and follow the laid down procedures to address their grievances.
The Director thanked the out-going Board Members saying this is a voluntary work and your commitment and hardwork have brought the School this far”.

Mrs. De-Souza encouraged the in-coming Board Members to serve the School with all their strength.
Dr. Deborah Cubagee, who chaired the ceremony, congratulated the school for the successes chalked so far, urging the new Board of Governors not to rely on their strength alone but that of God.

In a welcome address, the Headmaster, Mr. Clemence Yao Baba, said the School started because of the desire of Our Lady of Mercy Parish led by Rev. Fr. Francis Beemsterboer to satisfy the needs of the School going children in their community.

The School began as a Catholic Private mixed SHS in 1999 but was absorbed into the public system in 2001 with a student population of 150, he added.
Mr. Baba said the out-going Board had been a great pillar behind the achievements of the School, urging them to continue supporting it
Thanking the in-coming members for accepting to serve on the Board, assuring them of his staff’s support for the progress of the School.

Members of the out-going board were honoured with Citations.
The new Board Members include; Marcus Bansah, Theresa Awartey, Sevlo Adjei Jane Korkorbotor, Mr. Francis Kwashie Ahiafor, and Captain Aaron Obeng Turkson,
Others are Mr. Ebenezer Kwaku Adjierteh, Mrs. Elizabeth De-Souza, Regional Director of Education, Greater Accra, Mrs. Veronica P. Adzato Ntem, Metropolitan Director of Education, Tema, Mr. Clemence Yao Baba, Headmaster, with Philomina Owusu-Ansah, Ass,stant Headmistress, Board Secretary,

The rest are Mr. Stephen Yeboah Snr, and Ms. Janet Ampim, representing Teaching and Non-Teaching staff.
