“Ensure holistic development of youth”
Most Rev. Gabriel A.A. Mante, Bishop of the Jasikan Diocese has called for measures to be put in place to ensure the holistic development of the youth to prepare them to take up the mantle of leadership in the Church and society.

The Bishop made the call when he recently celebrated Mass at the Sacred Heart Parish at Chinderi to climax this year’s World Youth Day celebration. The three-day celebration on the theme: Blessed are the pure in Heart for they shall see God, was attended by over 700 youth from Parishes and Outstations in the three Deaneries of the Diocese.

Bishop Mante noted that the Diocese among other things, would soon organize a Singles Seminar to bring all the youth together for talk on marriage, and also to create a platform for socialization, expressing the hope that majority of the youth would meet their life partners at the Seminar.

He also called for financial support for youth activities and announced that there would be fund raising in all Parishes in the Diocese to support the youth to participate in the National World Youth Day to be held in Cape Coast in August this year.

He urged the youth to work hard to be successful in life so that they could in turn support the Church as they were being supported.
Activities to mark the celebration included talks, football and volleyball competitions for both males and females and other forms of entertainment.

Rev. Fr. Samuel Doh, Chaplain of the Nkonya Senior High School who gave a talk on Love reminded the youth that the greatest Commandment was about love for God and love for neighbour. He advised the youth to be truthful and sincere with their feelings and wait until they were ready for marriage before entering into relationships. He said marriage, just like the Priesthood and Religious Life was a Vocation, urging them to seek God’s direction in their choice of Vocation.

A retired Educationist who spoke on marriage, encouraged the youth to desire to marry from the Catholic Church, advising them to prepare themselves physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, sexually, spiritually and financially before going into marriage. She encouraged group dating, courtship, urging them to be respectful, honest and loyal to their future partners.
