Ghana will be peaceful
Before  and After 2016 elections - Palmer-Buckle
By Damian Avevor

Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, Most Rev. Charles Gabriel Palmer-Buckle, has predicted that Ghana would go through the 2016 general elections peacefully.

November 7, 2016 had been slated for the Presidential and Parliamentary elections in the country.
In a homily during Mass at the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Accra to a large congregation on New Year’s Eve, Archbishop Palmer-Buckle called on Ghanaians to intensify their prayers for peace to prevail in the country.
He urged Ghanaians to always preach peace since the future would be at stake without peace, adding that the country would once again pass the test of time.

He said the flocking of Ghanaians to Church on 31st night was a manifestation that no matter what happened, the country would be saved, noting that it was clear that Ghanaians needed nothing but peace in 2016.
He said in 2016, God had many surprises for the nation and Ghanaians as whole, calling on them to walk humbly in the presence of the Lord, act justly and love tenderly.

He urged Ghanaians to be thankful to God for His goodness to them in the past years and ushering 2016, adding that “Let us look back and say God we thank you.”

He advised Christians to love without considering the cost because as “we love, we become objects of God’s love.”
He recapped some tragedies that happened in 2015 like the June 3 disaster, outbreak of Cholera and ebola resulting in the death of many people, saying that “with all these we are alive to see the New Year.”

Archbishop Palmer-Buckle stressed the need for Catholics to allow God to surprise them in various ways in the Jubilee Year of Mercy, appealing to them to do good to who least expected something from them.
In a another development,  Most Rev. Vincent Sowah Boi – Nai, Bishop of Yendi has called on Ghanaians to safeguard the country’s democratic dispensation.

According to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), he said acts of violence only lead to a spiral of violence and so all must work together to make sure that on November 7 this year, the Presidential and Parliamentary elections are violent free.
Bishop Sowah Boi – Nai made the call when he delivered a New Year Message during a Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Cathedral at Yendi.

He advised all and sundry to refrain from acts of indiscipline and violence that would mar peaceful co-existence, urging Ghanaians to thank God for His mercies in 2015 despite the natural or manmade disasters that occurred in other parts of the globe.
He called on Ghanaians to continue to pray for peace in the country.
