Donkorkrom Vicariate honours Catechists
The Donkorkrom Vicariate in the Afram Plains has honoured eight elderly Catechists, for their long dedicated services to the Local Church during Mass at the St. Francis Xavier Church at Donkorkrom. The Catechists were Mr. Edward Kumah, Mr. Gabriel Seddor, Mr. Michael Asinyo, Mr. Patrick Yevu, Mr. Sylvester Kofitu, Mr. Emmanuel Akorli, Mr. Athanasius Dogbey and Mr. Francis Aboagye.
The ceremony was witnessed by many faithful including family members of the Awardees.

Most Rev. Gabriel Edoe Kumordji, SVD, Bishop of the Vicariate, who presided over the Mass, thanked the Catechists for their invaluable work over the years in the Vicariate.  He said the Vicariate was still an area of primary evangelization, commending the Catechists for having taught and trained many people, some of whom were now Priests.

The Bishop urged the faithful to appreciate, encourage and support the Catechists in their ministry.
Each of the Catechists was presented with a Papal Blessing Plaque and an undisclosed gift as a sign of appreciation.

The award ceremony was preceded by a three-day workshop and a day of recollection on the teaching of Sacraments of Initiation for sixty Catechists preached by Bishop, Kumordji.

The Director of Catechetics, led the Catechists through a day of Lenten Recollection on the theme, Renew a right spirit within me.

The Catechists were happy to see that their efforts and commitment in the service of God were acknowledged. Younger and more energetic men were nominated to work in the place of the older Catechists.
