Bishop Boi-Nai Ordains Priest
The Bishop of Yendi, Most Rev. Vincent Sowah Boi-Nai, SVD, has reminded Priests that their Holiness was important in the work of evangelisation.
He said this during the Priestly Ordination of Rev. Fr. Abraham Wumbiyeli recently at the Good Shepherd Rectorate at Gnani in the Diocese.
Bishop Boi-Nai told the new Priest that “What the lay faithful are looking for are good and holy Priests who will have time for them and respond to their spiritual needs, advising him to take his spiritual life seriously”.
He stated that by virtue of their Ordination, Priests were entrusted with the power to “bind and to loose” in the Sacrament of Penance, saying had they had a duty to help others to be converted and live good and holy lives.
He urged the people to support the new Priest with prayers and be patient with him when he makes mistakes.
Bishop Boi-Nai stated that a healthy relationship among Priests was necessary to facilitate a successful ministry, calling for unity among them noting that “all Priests shared in the one Priesthood of Christ on the basis of the Sacrament of Holy Orders and by particular bonds of apostolic charity, ministry and fraternity”.
He urged older Priests to accept younger ones as their brothers and support them to surmount the initial challenges of their ministry, advising younger Priests to respect the experience of the older ones.
Very Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Richard Mawusi, a Formator at the St. Peter’s Regional Seminary at Pedu, presented Rev. Wumbiyeli to Bishop Boi-Nai after testifying to his worthiness for Ordination.
The Ordination was attended by scores of Priests and Religious, members of Church Societies including Knights and Ladies of Marshall, Knights and Ladies Auxiliary of St. John’s International, Catholic Women Association, Christian Mothers’ Association, the faithful, families of the new Priest and Chiefs.
Fr. Wumbiyeli expressed gratitude to God, his parents, Bishop Boi-Nai, his Formators and all collaborators who in diverse ways assisted him in his Formation.
