Bishop Afoakwah visits Obuasi faithful in Accra
By Damian Avevor
Most Rev. John Yaw Afoakwa, Bishop of Obuasi, has urged the faithful of the Diocese domiciled in Accra and Tema to frequently visit their home Parishes to support them.
Meeting over 100 faithful at the Christ the King Parish in Accra, he said their expertise was needed for the growth of the Diocese, calling on them to help build Rectories for Priests where they were need.
Dubbing his meeting as “Harnessing Resources for the development of Obuasi Diocese”, the Bishop said it was the responsibility of the lay faithful to support the needs of the Church since funds had stopped coming from abroad.
Bishop Afoakwah urged the faithful to always actively participate in Church activities, asking them to also exhibit their rich culture in their Parishes
He commended members of the Yefri Titi Kroye Kuo, a Society made of faithful from the Ashanti Region resident in Accra and Tema for supporting the Diocese in its development efforts, entreating them to occasionally visit and support their home Parishes.
The meeting was preceded by Mass presided over by Bishop Afoakwah and concelebrated by Rev. Frs. Andrew Campbell, parish Priest of Christ the King; and Bernard Kyei, Priest in Charge of St. Patrick church at Dome-Kwabenya, who hails from the Obuasi Diocese
In a homily, Bishop Afoakwah urged the faithful not to undermine the little things that came their ways in life.
He entreated them to renew their bond, love, unity, devotion and prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary as the Mother of God.
