ARUG launches 40th anniversary

By Damian Avevor
The African Religious Union, Ghana (ARUG), has launched its 40th anniversary celebration on the theme: The Sower, the Seed, And the Soil: 40 years of ARUG in African Perspective.
ARUG is an umbrella body of all Consecrated Men and Women in Ghana, with the aim of bringing all Religious Priests, Brothers and Sisters together to champion a common cause of evangelisation.
It is made up of the over 500 Religious working in Ghana, from about 60 Religious Congregations in Ghana.
The launch was performed by Rev. Bro. Pius Agyemang, SVD, President of ARUG during the climax of the Year of Consecrated Life at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Church at South Suntreso in the Kumasi Archdiocese.
Explaining the theme, Bro. Agyemang said the Sower was God our Maker through whom the Seed, His Son Jesus Christ, has been sown into the Soil which is our various cultures in Africa and Ghana.
He said Missionaries had been commissioned by Christ to go out to all nations to spread the seed, Divine Word and ARUG was committed to that.
He said the Church through the Second Vatican Council, renewed the first Commandment of Christ for Him to be sown into every culture and renew, reform, transform and to restore all through Christ.
The Ruby Jubilee would be marked from January 5 to 8, 2017 at the Spiritan University at Ejisu in the Konongo-Mampong Diocese.
