Bishops visit San Liborio Parish in Rome

Members of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference recently celebrated Mass at San Liborio, the Parish of His Eminence Pater Cardinal Appiah Turkson in Rome before beginning their Ad Limina visit from September 22-26, 2014.

They were led by Most Rev. Joseph Osei-Bonsu, President of the Conference and Bishop of Konongo-Mampong.

Accompanying the Bishops for the visit was Very Fr. Nicholas Afriyie, Secretary General of the Bishops’ Conference.

Diocesan Bishops are required to make the visit and report on activities of their Dioceses every five years.

The Mass was presided over by Cardinal Turkson, President of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace at the Vatican with Most Rev. Anthony Adanuty preaching the homily and concelebrated by the Bishops and Ghanaian Priests studying in Rome.

In a Homily, Bishop Adanuty exhorted the congregation to be closer to God and see God in their neighbour since all were created in the image and likeness of God.

It was attended by members of the Ghana Catholic Ecclesiastical Community and members of San Liborio Church

Present at the Mass were Sir James K. Bebaako-Mensah, Ghana Ambassador to the Holy See and his wife and Mrs. Evelyn Anita Stokes-Hayford, Ghana Ambassador to Italy.


The Ghanaian Catholic Community in Rome organized a reception in honour of the Bishops, during which the Community presented 1,500 Euros to the Conference to assist the St. Paul's Catholic Seminary at Sowutuom, Accra to refurbish its library.
